Take a trip to the nearby Oban Museum, head out into the nearby countryside and enjoy a walking tour or a hike, spend an afternoon birdwatching or head to one of the town’s famous pubs to enjoy some Scottish hospitality.

If you’re planning a special trip to Argyll and Bute, there’s no better place to stay than in a real castle. Stonefield Castle was built in 1837 and is a fine example of Scottish baronial architecture. The castle still has many original furnishings, with wood panelling, ornate ceilings, and marble fireplaces.

There are 60 acres of grounds to explore here, making it the perfect destination for those who love the great outdoors. The shores of Loch Fyne can be found at the edge of the woodland gardens, with historic sites such as Inveraray Castle and Dunderave Castle all within easy reach of the hotel. 

Explore the area with a trip to the idyllic fishing village of Tarbert. Just two miles from the hotel, Tarbert is one of the most attractive villages on the Mull of Kintyre peninsula. 

There are many interesting archeological sites in the area, too. Why not take a trip to Castle MacEwen, a ruin that dates back to the 13th century and overlooks Loch Fyne. Old Castle Lachlan is another important historical site in the area, dating back to the 14th century. 

There are some great National Trust sites to enjoy here, too. Take Crarae Garden, for example. The unique Himalayan-style woodland garden is well worth a visit and easily accessible from Stonefield Castle.
