Our Hotels in Argyll and Bute

Argyll and Bute is the perfect destination for a UK getaway at any time of the year. In the summer, the region is perfect for seaside holidays and fun on the sand. However, Argyll and Bute is also a great destination during the colder months of the year, when the roaring log fires of its cosy hotels make the perfect place to relax after a brisk winter stroll.

There are hotels located throughout its 23 inhabited islands, so you’ll be able to take your pick from rural retreats that offer the perfect escape for a few days and coastal hotels ideal for exploring the region’s best-loved beaches.

Luxury Hotels in Argyll and Bute

The luxury hotels of Argyll and Bute are amongst some of the finest in the world. If location is key, we can’t recommend the Great Western Hotel enough. Situated in a prime spot on the Oban esplanade, the hotel is within minutes of nearby shops and the harbour.

Guests can enjoy stunning views over the bay when they stay here, and there’s plenty to see and do in the local area too. Take a trip to the nearby Oban Museum, head out into the nearby countryside and enjoy a walking tour or a hike, spend an afternoon birdwatching or head to one of the town’s famous pubs to enjoy some Scottish hospitality.

There are a wide range of suites available at the Great Western hotel, including family rooms, singles, doubles and twins. Every room has an en-suite bathroom, along with tea and coffee making facilities and a TV included as standard. Within the hotel you’ll find several bars and lounges, where you can enjoy a diverse programme of live entertainment during your stay.

If you’re planning a special trip to Argyll and Bute, there’s no better place to stay than in a real castle. Stonefield Castle was built in 1837 and is a fine example of Scottish baronial architecture. The castle still has many original furnishings, with wood panelling, ornate ceilings, and marble fireplaces.

There are 60 acres of grounds to explore here, making it the perfect destination for those who love the great outdoors. The shores of Loch Fyne can be found at the edge of the woodland gardens, with historic sites such as Inveraray Castle and Dunderave Castle all within easy reach of the hotel.

Explore the area with a trip to the idyllic fishing village of Tarbert. Just two miles from the hotel, Tarbert is one of the most attractive villages on the Mull of Kintyre peninsula.

There are many interesting archeological sites in the area, too. Why not take a trip to Castle MacEwen, a ruin that dates back to the 13th century and overlooks Loch Fyne. Old Castle Lachlan is another important historical site in the area, dating back to the 14th century.

There are some great National Trust sites to enjoy here, too. Take Crarae Garden, for example. The unique Himalayan-style woodland garden is well worth a visit and easily accessible from Stonefield Castle.
