East Coast of Scotland Hotels

There are some incredible hotels on the East Coast of Scotland, many of which make the perfect base for adventures in the local area.

If you’re looking for a hotel in the heart of the action, you could opt for accommodation near the coast or in one of the region’s busier towns. But if it’s a weekend of pure relaxation you have in mind, we’d recommend heading a little further out and booking a room at one of the East Coast’s lesser-known rural retreats.

Best Hotels on the East Coast of Scotland

Take your pick from city centre hotels that put you within minutes of some of the most famous sights in the region, or choose a quieter hotel as your base for exploring the incredible nature reserves, parks, and hiking trails in the area.

Dundee

The coastal city of Dundee is well known for its waterfront, which is one of the largest active regeneration projects in the UK.

There’s so much for visitors to enjoy here, from the nautical museums that give a glimpse into the city’s amazing history to the 19th-century warship HM Frigate Unicorn. There are world-class galleries and museums to discover, along with fantastic restaurants, bars, and family-friendly attractions.

If you’re heading to Dundee, don’t miss the Carnoustie Golf Hotel. With 96 luxury en suite bedrooms, including ten suites that boast views over the Championship course, the sea, and the local town of Carnoustie, the hotel is one of the finest in the area.

Spa and health facilities at the Carnoustie Golf Hotel include a large heated swimming pool, sauna, whirlpool, steam room, and gym. There’s also an onsite restaurant, Calders Bistro, serving delicious dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.

Edinburgh

Edinburgh is, of course, one of Scotland’s most popular destinations. The capital city has long been a favourite with visitors, who flock to the city to see its incredible architecture and historical sights.

If you’re visiting Edinburgh during your trip to the East Coast of Scotland, there’s no better place to stay than the Bonham Hotel

Set within a secluded crescent in the city’s West End, the Bonham is a majestic hotel that spans three Victorian townhouses. There are 49 bedrooms here, each of which boasts its own unique and individual style.

Along with the accommodation itself, the Bonham Hotel has a standout restaurant and bar for guests to enjoy. Its prime location makes it a great spot for weekend breaks in Edinburgh, as many of the city’s best-loved attractions are within walking distance.

Edinburgh is famously home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, both on display to the public. Head to Edinburgh Castle to see the jewels in all their glory, or visit Perth Museum to cast your eye over the ancient Stone of Destiny.
