Walking The Norfolk Coast Path

The 83 miles of the Norfolk Coast Path span an impressive stretch of the coastline, offering brilliant opportunities to enjoy the beaches, historic towns and coastal villages of this beautiful part of England.

The path itself runs all the way from West Norfolk’s Hunstanton, through to the quiet village of Sea Palling, in the north east of the county. Walk the famous footpath and you’ll be treated to amazing views during your journey.

Hunstanton Cliffs

These cliffs are famed for their unusual red and white stripes, which are actually different layers of rock. Visitors can find out all about their history and even go fossil hunting during a trip to Hunstanton Cliffs.

Brancaster Staithe

Well known as an area of natural beauty, Brancaster Staithe is a picturesque village along the Norfolk Coast Path. Here you’ll find a harbour, a couple of cosy pubs, a National Trust activity centre and even a sailing school.

Wells-next-the-sea

Another area of outstanding natural beauty, Wells-next-the-sea is, as its name suggests, situated right on the coast. The port town was once known for its spring wells, but now visitors flock here to enjoy the sandy beach.

Morston Quay & Blakeney Point

We always recommend our guests take the time to visit the area’s famous seals, and there’s no better place to do so than at Morston Quay and Blakeney Point. Simply book a boat trip from Morston Quay and you’ll be able to see the seals of Blakeney Point in their natural habitat.

Cley-next-the-sea

The nature reserve of Cley-next-the-sea is always worth a visit, particularly if you’re a keen bird watcher. There are so many interesting species to spot here, and the reserve’s six hides are the perfect place from which to do so.

Weybourne

Weybourne village is another popular stop along the Norfolk Coast Path. This historic village offers all kinds of fun activities and attractions, from steam train adventures to lazy days on the beach.

Sheringham

If you’re looking for the ultimate quintessentially English seaside town, you need to visit Sheringham. This coastal town is perhaps best-known for its great beach, but it’s also perfect for steam train enthusiasts. There are some unbeatable seafood restaurants to be found here too.

Beeston Regis

The village of Beeston Regis is not to be missed. The village itself is a great place to explore, and the National Trust property of Beeston Regis Heath offers the perfect spot to get back to nature.

West Runton

The sandy beach of West Runton is another popular one, so make sure you stop here during your travels on the Norfolk Coast Path. Pack a picnic and spend some time relaxing by the sea in West Runton, before heading back to the path to continue your journey.

Cromer

Head on to Cromer and see if you can find one of the pieces that makes up Banksy’s Great British Spraycation series. As well as unmissable street art, Cromer is well known for its museums, bars and restaurants – not to mention the beautiful beach.

Overstrand

The coastal village of Overstrand offers some great beaches to explore. A relatively quiet corner of the coast, this is the ideal place to relax for a while after the hustle and bustle of nearby Cromer.

Sidestrand

Continue your tour of the Norfolk Coast and you’ll be treated to even more brilliant beaches. Sidestrand is one of our favourites. This sandy beach is perfect for families, and offers everything you need for a fun day out in the sunshine.

Trimingham

There’s so much to do in Trimingham, you’ll struggle to fit it all in during one visit! The beach here is a little more secluded than others along the Norfolk Coast Path, giving it a completely different feel. There are plenty of attractions to enjoy here. If you’re interested in the area’s history you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Mundesley

Ask a few locals and many will tell you that the beach of Mundesley is the best in Norfolk. This beautiful sandy beach has made Mundesley a favourite English seaside town for generations. We highly recommend you stop here during your travels around the county.

Happisburgh

It’s believed that some of the earliest settlers in England once lived in Happisburgh, and the historic town is still a popular place to live today. It’s well known for its eye-catching lighthouse. There’s a beautiful secluded beach to enjoy here too.

Sea Palling

The beach of Sea Palling has been awarded Blue Flag status, along with a handful of other beaches in the area. It’s a quiet, sandy beach with man-made reefs, built to fight against the effects of coastal erosion. If you’re lucky you might even be able to spot seals from the beach here.

Where to Rest Your Feet

There’s so much to explore along the Norfolk Coast Path, so you’ll definitely need somewhere to put your feet up at the end of a long day!
